Bracken Field
is the home of the John Carroll University softball program. Built in 1992, the facility bears the name of Edward Bracken, S.J. The late Jesuit served as the first athletic director of St. Ignatius College & John Carroll, holding the role from 1919-30. Bracken was inducted as a member of JCU Athletic Hall of Fame in the very first induction class in 1964.

Located behind Campion Hall, Bracken Field can accommodate roughly 100 spectators. The outfield borders Schweickert Field, with Don Shula Stadium serving as a beautiful backdrop.

In 2024, Bracken Field received a big facelift, with the installation of beautiful, new turf. This turf will allow for many more softball games to be played during Northeast Ohio springs.

In the three decades since its birth, Bracken Field has seen plenty of excellent softball. The Blue Streaks won three OAC Championships and clinched two NCAA Tournaments in the 2010s, a banner decade for JCU Softball.

The 2010s also saw plenty of renovations for the field. In 2016, the removable outfield fence was replaced with a permanent six-foot high fence. In 2017, new foul poles were added, as well as a new warning track.
